South Queensferry charity shop gutted by fire

Dozens of firefighters battled a blaze for two hours this morning at the Deaf Action charity shop at 31 High Street, South Queensferry.

Nobody was hurt, but a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire – which gutted the shop – could have spread if it hadn’t been tackled so swiftly.

The adjoining Deans Properties office (formerly part of the same building as Deaf Action) was also damaged.

The High Street is currently blocked, as fire investigation officers carry out an examination of the premises.

There are thought to be no suspicious circumstances.

We’ll have a full report online shortly.
