Following a successful open day at the Museum of Scottish Railway in Bo’ness, the SRPS is looking for more donations.
Locomotive fans were invited to an open day supporting the Spirit of Scotland appeal, which is raising funds to purchase and restore a Glasgow-built LMS-designed class 8F locomotive.
The event gave steam train enthusiasts the chance to donate to the cause and also allowed them to get up close and personal to the 8F.
However more money is needed to help restore the train to the tracks. Project leader Mark Ashmole said: “Our appeal will continue with the aim of raising £250,000.”
One way the SRPS hopes to achieve this is by enlisting 100 covenanters who can provide monthly instalments of £10 or more to the cause.
SRPS chairman Vic Michel said: “We are appealing to the many people who share the passion and want to be a part of the project.”
