A tasty charity fundraiser, organised by Linlithgow Round Table and Cancer Research UK, has raised a mouth-watering £2002.
The event at Delhi’s Winter Indian restaurant in Linlithgow last week was the culmination of many weeks of organisation.
Cancer Research UK, via its Linlithgow store, teamed up with the town’s Round Tablers to host an evening meal extravaganza, with ticket prices set at £25 per head.
The event was a sell-out; all 70 tickets were snapped up well in advance.
As well as money from ticket sales, there was also a raffle and an auction, with one lot – a hot tub weekend at Williamscraig Holiday Cottages – raising £275 alone.
Round Table donated its half of the proceeds, £1001, to SANDS West Lothian.
The group recently used another Table donation to fund a memorial bench at Linlithgow ‘s baby cemetery.
Gill Leslie, Cancer Research UK retail area manager, said: “We are so grateful to the Delhi’s Winter Indian restaurant for raising such a fantastic sum for us.
“I want to say a heartfelt thanks to all those involved.
“Cancer Research UK invests £34 million a year in Scotland on ground breaking, life-saving research.”
Nicola Welsh, SANDS West Lothian local coordinator, said: “It’s about giving comfort to bereaved parents; letting them know that support is there should they need it, now or in the future.
“SANDS Lothians is committed to supporting bereaved parents and I’ll continue to do whatever is needed to provide the best support in West Lothian.
“These little babies may have only been known briefly but they are forever loved.”
