Celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of the Forth Bridge have been launched.
Queensferry Ambition and Network Rail have launched the second year of the Forth Bridges Festival to celebrate the iconic Forth Bridge.
While the structure opened on March 9, 1890, events to mark the event will be staged throughout the year as opposed to a specific month.
Network Rail this week launched its 125th Forth Bridges Festival Experience logo while Queensferry Ambition announced that Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) would be the chosen charity for the 2015 event.
This year will also see three abseils off the bridge, the first being on March 1.
Craig Bowman, Network Rail spokesman, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide support for the second year of the Forth Bridges Festival during what will be an historic year for Scotland’s favourite landmark.
“The festival will provide a great opportunity for the community and visitors to celebrate the Forth Bridge’s 125th anniversary and we look forward to confirming a full programme of events.”
Chris Marks, CHSS spokesman, added: “We are over the moon to be the chosen charity for the 2015 Forth Bridge’s Festival.”
More programme details will be announced shortly.
