A temporary shuttle bus is currently operating to reduce parking and congestion in South Queensferry, caused by the closure of the Forth Road Bridge.

The City of Edinburgh Council introduced the service today and it will run on a circular route between Dalmeny Rail Station and various points in the town throughout the week.

The service will operate on weekdays from 5.30am to 8am and 4pm to 7pm and will stop at Dalmeny Station, Station Road, The Loan, Ferrymuir, Builyeon Road, Bo’ness Road, High Street and Hawes Car Park.

As well as giving drivers the option to park elsewhere from the rail station before boarding the train, the bus will encourage those leaving the train in Dalmeny to explore the town and the various shops, restaurants and cafes on offer.

The route, which passes Hawes Pier and through South Queensferry’s centre, was created in collaboration with Queensferry and District Community Council and South Queensferry Business Improvement District (BID).

Councillor Lesley Hinds said: “By introducing parking restrictions near Dalmeny Station alongside a shuttle bus around the town, we want to avoid parking chaos by encouraging people boarding the train to park elsewhere. The shuttle bus will also make it easier to sample some of the festive cheer South Queensferry’s businesses have to offer.”
