CHRISTMAS is a time for giving and what better present than the gift of time and effort.
Nikki Poole from Linlithgow is in her final year studying primary education at Edinburgh University, and she recently volunteered for a month at the Badilisha Maisha, an education and support centre in Kenya, that means ‘change a life’. Nikki (22) from Springfield used her teaching expertise to work at the centre’s classrooms and she saw first hand the needs felt in the community.
She said: “The children that attend are fantastic, and are very eager to learn and do well. It takes a lot of time, preparation and funding for the centre to run.”
