PUPILS across West Lothian have scored gold stars across the board with those acheiving Highers and Standard Grades exceeding numbers last year.
At Linlithgow Academy, there were 10 star pupils in the top A Band 1 bracket. One of them - Laura Hendrie (17) of Sheriffs Park, Springfield - was delighted when she saw her perfect marks on Tuesday.
She said: “It was really good and I was hoping to get these results - I’m really happy.”
Laura excelled in her Higher subjects, Maths, Geography, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, and she hopes to study Advanced Higher Maths, Advanced Higher Statistics, Higher English and GCSE Photography in her final year at the Academy.
She added: “I’ll be applying to study at Edinburgh University after this year, where I want to do Maths and Business Studies.”
The ecstatic teenager was heading out for dinner on Tuesday night to celebrate her success with her family.
The other top A Band 1 acheivers at Linlithgow Academy were Brenna Howley, Kyle McLachlan, Jenny Young, Olivia Kiuri, Alice Bumstead, Elidh Mills, Robert Dick, James Adams and Emma Box.
David MacKenzie, head-teacher at Linlithgow Academy, said: “The results are utterly fantastic this year-the kids have done very well. These are the best results Linlithgow has had in a number of years or maybe ever. It’s been an outstanding year.”
Lawrence Fitzpatrick, executive education councillor, also congratulated pupils, adding: “We will continue to focus on raising the aspirations of young people and securing further improvements in attainment across West Lothian schools.”
