The first of 20 oak trees, one to represent each year since West Lothian Council was established, has been planted at the West Lothian Civic Centre by leader of the council John McGinty and depute leader Cathy Muldoon.

Since being established in 1996, the local authority has become highly regarded for excellent service and ranked as one of the top council’s in Scotland.

Leader of West Lothian Council John McGinty said: “I am proud of the council’s achievements. Planting oak trees which will grow and flourish embodies our hopes for West Lothian going forward including strength, endurance, protection, success and stability.”
