Plans to protect Queensferry’s conservation area for future generations took a leap forward recently with the formation of Queensferry Heritage Trust.
The Trust, whose object is to advance greater public know-ledge, understanding and appreciation of the area, aims to promote the historic High Street and conservation area.
It is looking to encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general and historic interest and aims to ensure high standards of architecture are continued through consultation with local groups, Edinburgh City Council and independent heritage bodies such as the Cockburn Association.
Office-bearers include chairman John Murphy, Mike MacDowall, treasurer, and committee members Clare Meredith, Jenny Meldrum, Eleanor Sneddon, Frank Hay, Liz Carson and Jenny Calder.
Also attending the meeting was James Lawson, chairman of North Queensferry Heritage Trust, who outlined the range of work being undertaken in North Queensferry.
John Murphy said: ‘‘We look forward to working with our neighbours across the river and also with community organisations in Queensferry for the benefit of the town, it’s residents and visitors.’’
