IN A surprise move yesterday (Monday) Wallace Land withdrew their £90m plans to transform Burghmuir outside Linlithgow.

The planning application received over 1400 comments from people across West Lothian over the past year in what is thought to be one of the most controversial in recent times. Plans included 600 new homes, a medium sized foodstore, land for a new health centre, land for a 60 bed care home and for a 60 bed hotel and west bound slips at Junction 3 on the M9 junction.

Wallace Land’s plans were due to be decided at a special full meeting of West Lothian Council on Wednesday, but council officers had recommended refusal.

But the Journal and Gazette have been informed today that the application has been withdrawn, and the meeting will now not go ahead as planned.
