a SPLASHING good time was had at Blackness Boat Club open day on Saturday, with sailors young and old having fun both on the Forth and ashore.

There were rowing trips, a punt race, bouncy castle, sand castle competition, face painting, a barbecue and music from Queenferry Community Brass Band.

Bo’ness fire crew attended, as did the Queensferry Community Rowing Project and the First Responders.

Jack Ferrier and his vessel Deja vu won the best-dressed boat competition.

The afternoon not only boosted the profile of the club, with people coming from Queensferry, Linlithgow, Bo’ness and Grangemouth, but it also raised funds.

Vice commodore Jen Craig said: “The sub-committee for the open day would wish to thank everybody that took part, and a big special thanks to the Blackness area community council.”

Thursday was the club’s ladies race; keep up to speed with the latest events at www.blacknessbc.co.uk
