Results of a local survey to shape the new look Whitecross will be revealed this Sunday.
The local Community Action Group will unveil the data at an Open Day in Whitecross Primary School after over 200 homes shared their views on what is needed in the community, and the best way to spend the £25,000 pledged by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
Mandy Lang, chair of the Whitecross Community Action Group, said: “We’ve been delighted with the way people have responded to the survey, and with the positive proposals that have emerged. Now we need as many people as possible to attend the Open Day to make sure there is real community backing for the proposals that are adopted.”
Whitecross is one of five former mining communities the Coalfields Regeneration Trust selected to take part in its Coalfields Community Futures programme, which helps local people draw up and implement a five-year action plan for their area.
Frank McChord, community planning officer at Falkirk Council, said: “We are already seeing signs that that the community has been energised by this process. It is also very timely as there is a huge re-development in the area, and we don’t want Whitecross to lose its sense of place or become subsumed into the new community.”
The Open Day runs from 1-4pm with free entertainment, refreshments, displays, a raffle, and kid’s activities.
