Bitterly cold nights (and days) greeted Forth Valley Mountaineering Club members attending the January weekend meet.
Bivouaced for the weekend at Blackrock Cottage, members’ slumbers were disturbed by the influx of skiers to the slopes behind their accommodation.
However, that ensured everyone was up and about at an early hour to take advantage of the stunning conditions which prevailed last weekend.
On the Saturday, two skiers took off across Rannoch Moor to skin up a small peak before circling round to Kingshouse Hotel and back to the hut.
Five members opted to climb Meall a Bhuiridh and had to look smart to avoid the snowboarders and downhill skiers on who’s territory they infringed.
It was desperately hard work slogging uphill through deep snow on the lower part of the mountain but conditions were better higher enabling a traverse across to Creise and returning by the same route.
The skiers traversed a section of the West Highland Way on the Sunday with three members climbing little Beinn Sithean at Strathyre on the way home and another enjoying some downhill ski-ing in the almost perfect conditions.
