Witness appeal after scrapyard blaze

Police in West Lothian are investigating a deliberate fire-raising at a scrapyard in Armadale in The evening of Tuesday, May 1.

Approximately 35 cars were set on fire and 100 cars had their windows smashed by vandals at Campbell’s Auto Salvage in Collinshiel Road, sometime between 6-7pm.

Firefighters spent approximately four hours dealing with the blaze, which led to a number of road closures. Residents were ordered to shut doors and windows due to the volume of smoke.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Collinshiel Road in Armadale between 6-7pm on Tuesday and who saw anything suspicious to contact police.
