Christmas has come early for two charities in South Queensferry.

Queensferry Churches Care in the Community (QCCC) and Queensferry Sports and Community Hub received grants totalling £2500 from the 2014 Bank of Scotland Community Fund for the West Lothian area.

Members of the public were invited to vote for their favourite local cause, with awards of up to £3000 being presented.

A total of 232 good causes in 58 communities benefited from the scheme.

QCCC received second prize of £2000.

Chairman David Pomfret said: “This award is a wonderful boost to our work with older people and carers.

“Our grateful thanks go to the Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Bank and their community team.

“A total of 3120 votes were cast in the West Lothian 
area and we raised 858 from friends and supporters.

“We are indebted to them for their votes and continued support of our work.”

The Queensferry Sports and Community Hub came in fourth and was awarded £500.

Hub chairman Allan Carson, said: ‘‘The money will help us in making the facility a long term sustainable project for the community to come together, participate, learn and enjoy a variety of sports.”
