Bo’ness swimmers success

BO’NESS ASC recently held their annual club championships at Bo’ness Recreation Centre with over 60 swimmers taking part.

Head coach Alistair Calder said: “This is a great club competition bringing together all ages within the club and this makes for a great competition.

‘‘It also lets the younger swimmers see what they are aiming for in the future.”

The following won the trophy for overall winner in their age groups. Eight and under girls: Islay Fraser and Lauren Kinnaird (joint winners); Eight and under boys: Michael Mooney; Nine-year-old girls: Alice Ferguson; Nine-year-old boys: Sam McDougall; 10/11 year age group girls: Katie Taylor; 10/11 year age group boys: Ben McDougall; 12/13 year age group girls: Jemma Brown; 12/13 year age group boys: James Stephen; 14 and over girls: Rebecca Stephen; 14 and over boys: Ross Stephen.

This was the fifth year in a row that Jemma Brown had won the overall trophy in her age group.

Swimmer of the year was Kayrine Kelly who won the Scottish junior and senior titles for the 200 fly in a time of 2:19. She went on to compete at the UK Schools games again winning in the 200 fly.

Kayrine was also selected as part of the team representing Scottish Swimming’s West District at the UK inter-counties competition.
