Brown Ferguson signs up 12 Linlithgow Rose players for next season
Linlithgow Rose gaffer Brown Ferguson has already secured the signatures of 12 squad members for next season, with negotiations continuing with three others.
"The focus this year is to try to make alterations rather than big changes and that’s where we’re at,” Ferguson told the Journal and Gazette.
"We’re looking at five or six new signings for the season ahead which I think is a good number rather than looking for 13 or 14 which it was this time last year.
"So I’m pleased we’ve retained the players we have. There’s others we’re still speaking to and we’ll see what their decisions are.
"But the vast majority have decided to stay which is good. They’ve signed early which is a good indication of us as a club.
"Obviously we now need to attract the players in the positions we’ve identified that are going to be phased in.”
With the East of Scotland Leagues having been declared null and void on Sunday, Ferguson said he “was pleased to get clarity”.
The Rose boss expects pre-season training to start in early June, with the new league campaign starting on either July 10 or July 17.
"That can’t come soon enough,” Brown said. “We’ve all missed it. There’s definitely been a huge void in all our lives so getting back on the training pitch, getting back with a focus – which is important as well – is something that we’re all desperate to do.
"The big thing we want clarity on is: ‘Can we allow fans back into the stadiums’ because obviously that will have a huge impact on our ability to plan ahead if we know that.”
