Dunipace secure much need three points with win over Ormiston

Dunipace secured a much needed three points at home to Ormiston FC with a solid 3-0 victory on Saturday.

The game started evenly with the away team looking lively without causing much trouble for Pace defence and keeper David Kane.

The first Dunipace opportunity came from Danny Ashe in 15 minutes when he rose above the home defence but headed straight at the keeper who had to react quickly to divert the ball over the bar.Pace skipper Alan McFadden also came close when his close range effort skimmed the bar in 30 minutes and in the 32nd minute Danny Ashe again came close firing a powerful shot in from 20 yards which had the Ormiston keeper stranded but flew just over the bar.

Dunipace made the breakthrough on 39 minutes when comeback man Lee Davidson sent a long ball up the left wing to Chris Zok he turned the defender and put a lovely ball across the six yard box for Faddy who showed a deft touch to bring the ball down with his chest and guided the ball beyond the oncoming keeper as Pace went in deservedly 1-0 up at half-time.

The second half was eight minutes gone when Dunipace scored their second.

A throw in from the left side found Zok waiting near the goal line, he shielded the ball from the defender, turned him and then sent a ball across the face of goal which met Faddy perfectly again, he lashed the ball into the roof of the net to ease the pressure on the home side.

Keir almost grabbed the third before substitute Sam Colley came close soon after with a header from a corner which went the wrong side of the post.

The play was mostly in the Ormiston half and the third goal soon followed, it came from a corner in the 72nd minute, Stevenson ghosting in just in front of the defender to guide the ball into the net, a lovely finish.

Dunipace saw out the final few minutes comfortably to record their second league victory in a row which sees sees them move up to eighth place in the league.

After the match Pace assistant manager Alan Moffat said “ It was good to get another three points but more pleasing was the clean sheet. We have a couple of very important training sessions this week as we prepare for what is an extremely difficult and historic tie against Berwick Rangers in the Scottish Cup at Westfield.”
