Craig Donaldson and Tommy Coyne adding to Linlithgow Rose selection headaches

It’s not just Roddy MacLennan’s absence (see story elsewhere on the Linlithgow Gazette website) at the start of the new season next month which Linlithgow Rose manager Brown Ferguson will have to cope with in terms of player unavailability.

Tommy Coyne will be missing at the start of the new season

Ferguson said: “It looks like Craig Donaldson will need surgery on a knee issue that was sustained during training in the summer months.

“Tommy Coyne is making progress but he’s still a while away from being in a position to train fully with the group.

“Obviously we’re missing Roddy too so we’ll be missing all three of those players at the start of the season if it goes off as planned on October 10.

“In terms of the rest of the group, they’re all doing well.

“We’re still talking to one or two players and we’re still hopeful that before the start of the season there could be a couple of additions because obviously we will be missing a few players.”

Meanwhile, Linlithgow have been drawn at home to Kello Rovers in The Soccer Shop Challenge Cup second round on Saturday, November 21.

Ferguson said: “It’s exciting to be part of a draw. I’m not going to lie, Kello is a team I have no knowledge of.

“Obviously we’ll need to do homework on the club prior to that one.”
