New ride-on lawnmower is cut above for Bo'ness United Community FC!
Bo’ness United Community Football Club has been blown away by the generosity of one of the club’s sponsors, Cam-Air.
Not only has this company sponsored kits for the girls section and fitted an air-conditioning system, free of charge, at the club’s home at The Murries.
But in a further welcome development on Saturday, William and Lindsay Plenderleith from Cam-Air presented Bo’ness United Community FC with the keys to its very own ride-on lawnmower.
Peter Hay, delighted BUCFC chairman, told the Journal and Gazette: “This item has been on the club’s wish list for nine years.
"The grass at The Murries needs cutting every few days to stay in tip top condition for our young footballers.
"This will make such a difference to the club and we honestly can’t thank Cam-Air enough.”
The first to take the wheel was club mascot Leo the lion - a firm favourite with the club’s youngest footballers.
The local residents at Little Carriden peered over their garden gates to get a closer look, having never seen a lion riding a lawnmower before!
Club coach Murray Hay also thought the new backing was truly a cut above, adding: “The generosity of these businesses never ceases to amaze me.
"The last year has been difficult for everyone, but our sponsors continue to support the kids of Bo’ness through thick and thin.
“Leo has been busy getting The Murries ready for the return of the club’s 326 young footballers over the next few weeks.”
Murray added: “Leo will have The Murries looking like Hampden Park at this rate!”
And Sarah Crawford-Wilkinson of BUCFC said: “Cam-Air are not publicity hungry but we thought the locals might enjoy this feelgood story, and we figured they might want to know why there was a lion on a ride-on! Also, without the support of these local businesses the club couldn’t exist.”
BUCFC is always looking for new players, new volunteers and new sponsors.
