Professional performance pleases Ure as Shire record back-to-back 3-0 wins

East Stirlingshire boss Derek Ure described last Friday night’s 3-0 Lowland League win over Caledonian Braves as a “pleasing, professional performance.”

Sean Brown, Nicky Low and Reis Peggie netted the goals to make it back-to-back 3-0 victories for the Shire following the previous weekend’s win over Stirling University.

Speaking to The Falkirk Herald, Ure said: “The boys got their noses in front then managed the game well and took their chances when they came.

"If we were being a bit critical we could maybe have used the ball a bit better in the first half but we controlled the game well and it was a professional performance.

"Braves are dangerous opponents but I felt we nullified them.”

Ure was also pleased with how his players have reacted since losing 5-1 to BSC Glasgow prior to the Stirling University game.

"Every question that's been asked the boys have bounced back from.

"We dropped our first points and responded well and now after a disappointing defeat to BSC, in terms of the scoreline, we've bounced back with consecutive 3-0 wins.

"It shows the boys character but we need to eradicate getting ourselves into these positions."

The win put Shire temporarily top of the Lowland League table but results last Saturday saw them move back down to fourth.

Now, attentions turn to this weekend’s William Hill Scottish Cup second preliminary round tie at home to Highland League side Inverurie Loco Works.

"It's the biggest cup competition in Scotland and something everyone wants to take part in,” said Ure.

"You're only ever a few games away from glamour tie which would be beneficial to the club and the players.

"We're expecting a really, really difficult game and we know if we don't play to the best of our abilities we will be out of the cup.

"We are in no doubt that nothing less than 100 percent will get us through.

"We played them in a preseason game last summer, it was a very even match, when the tie was drawn I'd think both clubs would have looked at it and known they needed to be at their best."
