LINLITHGOW martial art exponent Helen Wilson is counting down the days to her next Muay Thai boxing encounter.
Helen, who works as a fitness instructor at Linlithgow’s Xcite lesiure club, is set to compete for the Women’s UK and Gaelic title in February.
She is the current Scottish amateur champion but, due to a lack of women fighters in Scotland, Helen also fights professionally.
Helen said: “Although I am the current Scottish amateur champion, there are not a lot of contenders around so I had to turn professional. Since, starting the sport, I have won five out of seven fights but I have to look to England to find opponents if I want to progress.”
Her most recent fight was against Rachel Barton, of Edinburgh, in a contest at Carnage Muay Thai in Grangemouth earlier this month. She stopped her opponent in the first round of a five round contest.
Helen, who trains five times a week as well as coaching Muay Thai for women at the club, added: “I am set to fight an Irish opponent in Glasgow in February but between now and then I aim to get in as much sparring as possible.”
