DRIZZLE failed to dampen spirits at the 11th Fair Cup over 30s football tournament at Douglas Park in Bo’ness last Saturday.
Kinneil A Team - organised by Chrissy Middleton and Derek Mulholland - were eventual winners, beating Grange B 2-0 in the final.
In keenly contested semis, Kinneil A triumphed 1-0 over Incomers B thanks to an Alan “Pidge” McLean goal.
Grange B were comfortable 3-0 winners over the Public A with goals from Colin Fraser and a double by Daz McLellan.
The final was a classic with some hefty challenges, scything tackles and verbal sparring interspersed with great footballing skills.
Two superb late goals from Stephen Wotherspoon and Jamie McLean against six-man Grange saw Kinneil presented with the Ian Reid Memorial Trophy by Fair Queen Erin Meikle for the first time.
Stephen made it a double celebration by lifting the Colin Duncan Memorial Trophy - from Colin’s daughter Caitlin - for player of the tournament.
In a new ladies challenge match, Bo’ness East (Grange, St. Mary’s and Public schools) beat Bo’ness West (Kinneil and Deanburn) 2-0, courtesy of Lorna Angus and Kelly McGowan goals.
