Linlithgow Athletics Club report
The Ben Sheann Hill Race near Strathyre took place on Wednesday, June 12. Forming part of the Bog and Burn series of hill races, the route climbs steeply through forest to the prominent summit of An Sidhean. After the summit the route continued on a loop around some boggy tussocky ground before launching back into the forest for a final exciting descent. Representing Linlithgow AC, David Mason finished in 22nd place with a new course PB of 32:55. A total of 68 runners took part, accompanied by thousands of midges, which saw most of the competitors head for the river afterwards for a swim. David described it as an ‘excellent wee race’.
At the Falkirk parkrun on Saturday, Andrew Fischbacher continued to show the senior club members how to finish in style with his 3rd place finish. Gerry McArdle took an amazing 44 seconds off his PB time, and Darren Dick also recorded a new PB. Meanwhile Alison Marshall showed off her new approach to crossing the line before her unborn baby – by walking backwards over the finish - to the cheers of all who were watching. Results in full are as follows: Andrew Fischbacher 3rd (18:24), Gerry McArdle 21st (20:52 new PB), David Marshall 22nd (20:52), Darren Dick 53rd (23:13 new PB), Hilary Stocks 74th (24:45) and Alison Marshall and bump 125th (30:27).
