Medal success for Bo’ness swimmers

BO’NESS ASC age group development squad secured 13 medals plus personal bests (PBs) at the Dumfries Open Meet held at Dumfries Sports Centre.

In the 11-year-old category, Robyn Brown won gold in the 200m breaststroke, silver at 200m backstroke and 400m IM, plus bronze in the 200m IM.

Kirstyn Calder won gold in the 100m backstroke and bronze in the 400m freestyle, with Victoria Duncan scooping silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in 100m breaststroke.

There were silvers for Matthew Dwane in the 100m freestyle and 200m IM, plus bronze in the 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle. Josh Crooks won silver in the 100m breaststroke.

In the 14-year-old age group Andrew Weatherstone won silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Fellow squad members Anghard Hopwood, Harriet Brown and Rachel Christie all achieved PBs in their swims.

The junior potential and development squad were meanwhile swimming at the Aquanauts 12th Graded Meet held at Bathgate.

Michael Mooney won gold in the 10-and-under 200m breaststroke, and in the 11-year-old age group Ben Hitchings won fifth in the 200m backstroke and sixth in the 200m IM.

Completing the squad were Anna Law, Ellen Kilgour, Grace Drummond, Cara Farquarson, Kirsty Ross, Max Gemmell, Thomas Mulholland.

Ryan Davidson head coach said: “It’s great to see so many medals being won but for all these swimmers it is about getting PBs and this is what has been achieved.”
