It was a busy weekend for Linlithgow AC runners who were well represented at the Scottish National Cross Country Championships at Callander Park, Falkirk.
Stars of the show were the under-13 boys Ruaridh Duncan, Sam Marshall, Andrew McGill and Cameron Innes who made up a great Linlithgow team, with Andrew McGill hitting a podium place, coming third in a field of 164 runners.
Mairi Watts was the leading Linlithgow runner in the women’s race taking 74th place (out of 269 runners) in 46:54, faster than all but one of the Linlithgow men. Frances Wood was thirdd VW55 in 53:17, Lorna Simpson finished in 56:17, Jill Horsburgh in 59:26 and Laura Finlay in 01:05:02. The Linlithgow women’s team was 22nd.
In a field of 647 runners, John Redding led the Linlithgow men in 41:09, followed by Michael Watts in 47:26, Scott Hyslop in 47:57, David Marshall in 49:03, David Mason in 49:17 and Angus Gallie in 54:55.
Further afield, David Dalmau finished a superb 106th from over 1000 runners in the the 42km Transgrancanaria Trail Marathon, a gruelling run with 1200 meters of positive elevation. He finished in 04:37:44.
