Linlithgow Kayak Racing is this week celebrating further success after two members were crowned British age group champions.

In excellent racing conditions at Nottingham over the weekend, Amy Redmond and Emma Brockway were the toast of the club claiming British titles at under 18 and under 16 level.

Amy took the under 18 girls K4 500m title with Emma taking the same title in the under 16s category.

In addition, Amy won individual K1 bronze medal in the under 18 girls 200m final, silver in the pairs K2 200m and 500m events and bronze in the K4 team 1000m event.

Emma also won individual bronze medal in the under 16 Girls individual K1 1000m.

The double win came just a week after Linlithgow paddlers had great success at the Scottish sprint championships held on Linlithgow Loch.

Scotland’s Vision and Horizon Sprint Squad athletes well and truly delivered the goods at the British Championships held at the National Watersports Centre returning with a grand total of 30 medals.

National coach, Kristina Medovcikova said, “I am very happy with the team’s performance over the weekend. All the hard work has paid off.

‘‘Everybody raced well, making the most of the opportunities and achieving personal best times in most of the races.”

Now Amy and Emma head off to the Olympic Hopes Regatta to represent Team GB in Piestany, Slovakia this weekend and are well-prepared for the international competition that lies ahead.
