Entry to this year’s Linlithgow 10k and junior fun race on Sunday, September 28, is now open.

The popular event, organised by Linlithgow Athletic Club, celebrates its 22nd anniversary and is sponsored by CCW business lawyers.

The CCW Linlithgow 10k and Fun Run will combine a 6.2 mile road race for seniors with a 1.5 kilometre fun run for girls and boys aged from eight years to 15 years, The senior road race, limited to 800 entrants, will start at Linlithgow Cross and use state of the art timing equipment will not only incorporate chip timing at the finish line, as was introduced for the 2013 race, but will also, for the first time introduce a timing mat at the start line. This is now becoming a common occurrence at large scale races where many athletes are competing. Having a mat at the starting line allows the runner’s start time to be recorded as well as their finish time.

This year’s race is certain to excite the usual mix of elite athletes, first-time entrants and those running to raise money for a charity close to their heart.

Entry has been frozen at £15 (£13 for athletes affiliated to Scottish Athletics) for the 10k and £5 for the junior fun run (maximum 300 entrants). As well as the technical t-shirt, all senior finishers will receive water en route and at the finish together with a well-earned banana. The children will receive a goody bag containing a medal, water, banana and a nourishing treat.

Entries for the senior race are now open and can be obtained through the club’s website www.linlithgowac.org.uk/linlithgow-10k

Entry forms for the junior event will be available at outlets throughout the town and can also be obtained by contacting Stuart Allan on stuart

The organisers advise those thinking of competing to make sure they enter quickly as there will be no additional runners accepted once the limits of 800 (seniors) and 300 (juniors) have been reached.

Linlithgow Athletic Club is extremely grateful for the support of the following sponsors: Sainburys, Highland Spring, Tunnocks, Hendry Opticians, Life Fit Wellness and Oracle.
