Matthew Carder is set to rival Josh Neil and Ben Torrance for top honours at the Scottish National Junior Badminton Championships at Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh on March 29 and 30.

The South Queensferry player is top seed ahead of Torrance as he prepares to defend his Under 21 singles title and he and Caitlin Pringle (Giffnock) will be out to retain their mixed doubles crown even though they are second seeds behind last year’s Under 17 triple champion Adam Hall (Mauchline) and his partner, Heather MacPherson (Edinburgh).

Carder is also second seed in the doubles as he and Hall try to oust top seeds and defending champions Neil (Prestwick) and Torrance (Glasgow).

The Edinburgh event also features the National Junior Championships for Under 13 and Under 17 age groups.

The draw will be published by Wednesday, March 26 on www.tournamentsoftware.com
