Runaway success for Angus

RUNNING a 10K in the winter is a no-no for many but one local
athlete flew to Barbados to make it happen.

And Angus Gallie got more than he bargained for when he won a gold medal, presented by none other than Prime Minister Freundel Stuart!

Angus (56) of Avontoun Park said: “We have family that stay in Barbados - but it’s been six years since we were there. They have a festival of running at the beginning of December and I thought I would do the 10K and came away with a gold medal in the 55-60 category!”

Angus, a member of
Linlithgow Athletics club, and a keen cyclist with West Lothian
Clarion, was delighted when he received his medal from the Prime Minister as an early Christmas present,
adding: “It’s a bit
different anyway!”
