PROUD to represent Scotland on the bowling green, Linlithgow’s Gary Clelland is battling it out at the IBD World Championships.
Gary (52) of Pilgrim’s Hill will return from the tournament in Pretoria, South Africa tomorrow (Saturday) after two weeks of play as part of the Scottish Disability Bowls Team.
Gary was the only West Lothian bowler to be picked for the team which hopes to improve on its third place finish at the 2007 IBD World Championships in Sydney, Australia.
Wife Debbie said: “The Scotland team has won some medals already.
“It’s such an acheivement for Gary to get there. The competition was stiff and there are only eight of them on the team. To be that age and representing your country in a sport is a once in a lifetime acheivement. We are very proud of him - it’s just fantastic.”
Daughter Hannah (16) and Provost Tom Kerr also voiced their support for Gary who is a member at Bellsburn Bowling Club.
Tom said: “I’d like to wish Gary all the very best in South Africa.
