Linlithgow Tennis Club hosted its annual mini-tennis tournament with over 80 competitors and their families welcomed to the club over the two-day event.
Linlithgow members had plenty to smile about by the end of the tournament when the club’s Jasmin Smith won the 10 and under girls category.
Day one saw the nine and under age group playing the best of three sets, with a set being the first to seven points. In all, 31 boys and six girls competed in 58 matches and winners from Glasgow and Dunfermline scooped the medals. In the afternoon, Linlithgow’s Kerr Robertson gave a very impressive performance in the under eight boys singles. He won two close matches in his round robin box earning a well-deserved place in the semi-finals. After taking the lead Kerr just lost out on a place in the final to South of Scotland’s Ivan-Burt-Smith, losing 10-8. Dundee’s Ben Hudson won the final. On day 2, the 10 and under section took to the courts. 25 girls and boys played the best of three shorts sets to four. Jasmin Smith, from Bathgate, stormed her way through the girls field, winning all three of her matches in impressive form.
