WEST Lothian County 1st XI did not have a East First Division cricket fixture on Saturday as their proposed opponents, Freuchie, had to cancel the match after heavy rain on Friday.
Carlton won the toss and asked County to have first use of the wicket. County scored 154 all out from 47 overs with Jamie Smith 30, George Heath and Patrick Bennie 25 each and Chris Ronalson 17, G. Murdoch 3 for 24 and R. Allardice 3 for 28.
Carlton set about chasing the 155 runs required for victory and it was nip and tuck all the way with Carlton scraping home with three balls to spare.
Carlton made 155 for 7 from 49 overs and 3 balls with J. Everitt 40 not out and G. Newman 37. Andrew Newman 4 for 24 and Patrick Bennie 2 for 24.
Carlton won the match by three wickets and collect 20 points with County picking up seven bonus points.
County 3rd XI travelled to East Lothian to play a Dunbar XI at Hallhill.
Dunbar scored 178 for 6 from 45 overs with D. Tossell 60 and I. Wanless 36. Terence Vorster 2 for 28, Mattie Norris 2 for 37, Rory Thomson 1 for 26 and Sean Holdsworth 1 for 27.
County batted scoring 180 for 5 in 38 overs with Mattie Norris 85 not out, Ken Thomson 32 not out, Alan Whitton 27 and Terence Vorster 10. D. Tossell 2 for 16 and D. Dickinson 2 for 24.
County won the match by five wickets and collect 20 points with Dunbar picking up eight bonus points.
The fixtures this weekend are as follows: Tomorrow (Saturday) County 1st XI travel to play Penicuik 1st XI at Kirkhill with a noon start.
County 2nd XI host Murrayfield/DAFS 2nd XI at Boghall in the East League Division 3 match with a 1pm start.
County 3rd XI travel to Midlothian to host Marchmont 2nd XI at Beeslack High School in Penicuik in the East League Division 6 match with a 1pm start.
The Sunday XI host a Biggar XI at Boghall with a 1pm start.
Outdoor net practices are held at Boghall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm until 8pm throughout the summer.
Junior net practice sessions are as follows: Juniors 13 and over practice on a Tuesday evening at 6.30pm until 8pm. Juniors under 13 from age 7 and over practice on a Wednesday evening at 6.30pm until 8pm.
All children are welcome to cgoalong on the appropriate night for their age group and try cricket for themselves.
