The charity Deer Trophy is held on the morning after Niddry Castle ladies annual Christmas dinner - held in the clubhouse on Decembe r 5. It is a fun competition played over nine holes.

This year the challenge was to use unusual drivers including a left handed driver, a squash racquet, a tennis racquet, a hickory club, a frying pan, a Christmas log mallet and a child’s cricket bat.

Various original putting styles were attempted such as using an Ugly Duckling putter, through the legs and even with eyes shut.

The winner was Nanette Caie who organised the event and of course, was accused of insider knowledge which she vehemently denied!

Winner of the best hat competition was Diana Bellhouse, followed by Moira Gaffney.

Fifteen ladies took part and £77 was raised for Children First.
