Much loved children’s book character Miffy is taking part in a story-telling experience at a Linlithgow book shop.
Far From the Madding Crowd, on High Street, won a national window display competition with Miffy publishers Simon and Schuster and the character will delight little fans when she appears in store on Tuesday, August 18.
Mother and daughter team Sally and Jill Pattle, who own the shop, said they were delighted to find out they had won the top prize.
Sally (37) said: “It was totally thrilling to find out we had won.
“Miffy is our favourite character and we really champion her at the store. She’s just wonderful for getting the kids engaged.”
The competition was held in celebration of Miffy’s 60th birthday and thanks, to their creative flair, staff at Far From the Madding Crowd were the winners of £500 worth of merchandise and will get to host Miffy for their story-telling event.
“We also have our own rabbit called Bibi and she’ll be helping out at story time,” Sally added. “She’s insanely cute.”
The event is being held on the day before most children go back to school and Sally hopes any frazzled mothers looking for half an hour of peace and quiet will pop into one of the sessions to meet Miffy.
