Munro climb is ‘complete’ success for FVMC duo

Forth Valley Mountaineering Club has welcomed two more Munroists into its membership in the last few weeks.

Several members have completed the ascent of all 282 Munros (3000ft summits in the Scottish Highlands) but few have taken quite as long as founder-member Drew Yule whose ‘‘round’’ took something like 52 years to complete.

And Johnny Walker this summer completed after a campaign of more than 40 years.

Drew’s last outstanding unclimbed Munro was Beinn na Lap above Corrour Station whilst Johnny was left with A Ghlas Beinn in Kintail, climbed, like so many before it, in wind and rain.

Beinn na Lap, the following week, was a stroll in the sunshine for Drew and his many companions.

Forth Valley Mountaineering Club meets in the Four Marys, Linlithgow High Street, on the first Tuesday of the month from 8.30pm. It holds regular monthly weekend and day meets. New members welcome, contact the secretary by email at or check out the new website:
